4-Stroke Engine Power Plants

Many small to medium size power plants around the world still run on medium speed generating sets built around 4-stroke diesel engines.

These 4-stroke medium speed diesel engines, that have a unit capacity that can sometimes go up to 5 MVA, have many advantages when compared to other technologies such as the high speed diesel generators and the Gas Turbines. Some of the main advantages are usually attributed to their power efficiency, effective electrical efficiency, operation and maintenance costs, hours to overhauls and specific fuel consumption.

At PDP Energy, we run technical and commercial feasibility studies to inform our clients about the adequacy of utilizing 4-stroke engines as base for their power plants. We also follow the implementation of these engines from the early design phase right to their commissioning on site.
