Project Background & Objectives

The SMLC Pepsi Bottling Company project was initiated to critically overhaul and upgrade the industrial safety infrastructure at a high-volume manufacturing facility in Beirut, Lebanon. Commissioned by S.M.L.C (Société Moderne Libanaise pour le Commerce), this specialized infrastructure development targeted the implementation of comprehensive emergency protection protocols across high-density production and warehouse sectors. Within this critical industrial risk management context, PDP Energy was selected to lead the specialized safety engineering phase. The primary company-specific objectives centered on executing the comprehensive Firefighting system integration, providing the full engineering design and supervision of the Fire Fighting system to safeguard personnel, infrastructure, and continuous bottling operations.

Project Challenges

Engineering a comprehensive fire protection network for an active, large-scale beverage production facility introduces severe mechanical, hydraulic, and operational complexities. High-speed bottling lines, automated packaging warehouses, and chemical storage areas feature highly disparate fire risk profiles, requiring unique zoning and customized suppression agents. PDP Energy had to navigate these demanding physical constraints by designing high-pressure water and foam distribution loops without interrupting the factory’s 24/7 manufacturing schedules. This required meticulous hydraulic calculations to prevent voltage or pressure drops, strategic positioning of automatic deluge valves, and rigorous structural pipe stress modeling to ensure the integrated safety network operates flawlessly under extreme emergency conditions.

Project Outcomes

Operating as the primary safety engineering and quality assurance partner, PDP Energy successfully formulated and delivered the complete firefighting integrated design package along with on-site installation supervision. The project effectively established an advanced, fully compliant protective framework that sets a baseline for industrial risk mitigation in the local food and beverage manufacturing sector. By providing synchronized mechanical layouts and independent field oversight, PDP Energy cleared the path for secure facility operations, drastically upgrading the plant’s emergency readiness, safeguarding vital asset infrastructure, and protecting the surrounding urban environment from large-scale industrial hazards.
