Engineering a 20 MW capacity extension within an operating 80 MW brownfield facility introduces severe technical and operational integration challenges. PDP Energy had to navigate the complexities of interfacing a new high-power generator and its critical auxiliaries with existing fuel, cooling, and electrical distribution networks without disrupting current power generation. This required meticulous civil, mechanical, and electrical synchronization to match the new unit’s dynamics with the pre-existing facility. Additionally, managing tight physical space constraints and updating centralized protection schemes and substation controls demanded advanced network modeling to prevent electrical faults or sudden grid trips during the integration phase.
